Returning from a night of fishing, fishermen at the beach in Mazatlan, Mexico were wary of me at first. I came back a number of days in a row and they kept their distance, suspicious of what I was doing. However, when I finished the painting they got really excited to see themselves in it. Unfortunately I do not speak Spanish, but smiles and gestures really do make a difference – and we parted good friends!
We had such a great time here as we stayed in the old town at an hotel right on the beach, facing the lighthouse. Mary had always wanted to go to Mexico and so it was a gift for her. It is a beautiful country with wonderful friendly people.
