At the northern end of Vancouver Island, in Queen charlotte Strait, lie the Storm Islands. They are well named for they receive the full force of any foul weather passing south of Haida Gwaii, previously know as the Queen Charlotte Islands, this is one of the few exposed areas faced by vessels travelling north. It can take several hours for ships to get past this low-lying chain of islets into the protection of the Inside Passage. I was honoured to have this painting juried into an exhibition in London, England of the Royal Society of Marine Artists.
